Descripción: En este workshop, presentaremos algunos conceptos básicos de seguridad online. Hablaremos del panorama de la seguridad digital, discutiremos el modelado de amenazas, revisaremos seguridad básica de computadoras, desde la salud de la computadora hasta la gestión de dispositivos físicos. Aprenderemos cómo securizar las comunicaciones con Peerio, y a verificar la identidad de nuestros contactos con autenticación fuera de banda. Aprenderemos, también, a anonimizar nuestras conexión con Tor.
Outcome: Los participantes poco familiarizados con la seguridad digital reforzarán la seguridad de sus cuentas y comprenderán la diferencia entre comunicaciones privadas vs. anónimas.
Necesidades: Los participantes deberán traer una computadora. Todo el software con el que trabajaremos será libre, y la mayoría de código abierto. Un proyector y algún tipo de pantalla serían de gran utilidad para el guiado a través del workshop.

Description: "In this hands on workshop, we'll introduce some basic concepts of online security. We will talk about the landscape of digital security, Discuss threat modelling, Review basics of computer security, from computer health to physical device management. Learn how to secure communications with Peerio, and verify your contact's identity with out-of-band authentication. Learn how to anonymize your connection with Tor.
Outcome: Participants will hopefully be that users with little familiarity with digital security will leave with strong account security, an understanding of private vs. anonymous communications".
Requirements: Participants should bring a computer. All software we'll be working with is free, and much of it open source. A projector or some sort of display would be very useful for on-screen guidance throughout the workshop.
