Machine Learning: Las cosas buenas / Machine Learning: The Good Stuff - English

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Level:
Hackers, software developers/ Desarrolladores y tecnólogos, Hacks, Journalists, editors / Periodistas, editores, Social, Data Activists/ Activistas Sociales, de datos    Knowledge of Python is the only requirement, and some basic familiarity with math would help too (high school level)
Necesidades: A projector

IN ENGLISH
Description:
I'll start with a high-level introduction of machine learning to give a survey of the field and then dive into specific examples, step-by-step using iPython notebooks. I'll cover the most common/useful techniques and provide intuitive explanations as to how they work, so people know enough to tweak them for their specific use cases. I'll explain how to recognize problems where machine learning may be useful and how to tackle them. The goal is for attendees to walk away knowing how to handle many different machine learning problems, how to incorporate into their workflow, and where to learn more. A write-up of a much shorter version of the workshop  is available here: http://spaceandtim.es/etc/ml101

Outcome: The attendees will know how to use popular ML Python libraries and we could end with a more complex example that can be worked on in the hackathon (maybe ones directly related to someone's news room needs).
Level: Hackers, software developers/ Desarrolladores y tecnólogos, Hacks, Journalists, editors / Periodistas, editores, Social, Data Activists/ Activistas Sociales, de datos    Knowledge of Python is the only requirement, and some basic familiarity with math would help too (high school level)
Needs: A projector
